Softball Recap: Garrard County Comes Up Short

Garrard County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 11-5 to the Cumberland County Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Lions of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Aubree VanWinkle made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Braylei Wade was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Garrard County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-21. As for Cumberland County, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-4.

Looking ahead, Garrard County will venture away from home to face off against West Jessamine at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cumberland County, they will face off against Casey County at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
