Baseball Recap: Stevenson Comes Up Short

Stevenson extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 11-14 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Elgin Storm. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by just one run.

Stevenson got a good showing from Yuni Hamideh, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Hamideh hasn't allowed a single earned run over his last three matchups.

As for South Elgin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

On South Elgin's side, their win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Connor Lund, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Coming up, Stevenson will look to defend their home field on Monday against Warren Township at 4:45 p.m. As for South Elgin, they will face off against West Chicago at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
