Saraland waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Bryant Hurricanes. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 on Saturday.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Saraland took both sets by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-13.

Charli Pearce paced Saraland's offense, picking up nine kills. Pearce got some help from Taniyah Smith and her 16 assists. Pearce was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Saraland's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Bryant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Saraland and Bryant should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Spartans will challenge Theodore at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (12 vs. 271). Meanwhile, Bryant (ranked 75th) will meet Mary G. Montgomery (ranked 234th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
