Basketball Game Preview: Happy Camp Indians vs. Hayfork Timberjacks

Happy Camp hasn't had much luck against Hayfork recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Happy Camp Indians will welcome the Hayfork Timberjacks at 5:00 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

Happy Camp is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Dunsmuir: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Happy Camp's way against Dunsmuir on Friday as Happy Camp made off with a 45-22 win. That looming 45-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Indians yet this season.

Meanwhile, Hayfork was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Surprise Valley 59-24. The Timberjacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Hayfork found their leader in freshman Kaelynn Bayley, who posted 28 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sidney Medellin, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Hayfork was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hayfork pushed their record up to 11-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points per game. As for Happy Camp, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8.

Happy Camp might still be hurting after the 51-27 defeat they got from Hayfork in their previous meeting on January 6th. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Happy Camp was down 38-6.
