Softball Recap: Holmes County's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Holmes County's victory against Altha wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Wildcats on Monday. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on three straight.

Bri Adams made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyndsey Pilcher, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ava Jones was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Holmes County's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Altha, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.

Looking ahead, Holmes County will square off against Abbeville Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Generals have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Altha, they will take on Mosley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
