Soccer Recap: Oakwood/Catlin Comes Up Short

Oakwood/Catlin lost against Urbana University back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Comets fell 3-1 to the Illineks. While losing is never fun, Oakwood/Catlin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Urbana University are ranked 129th).

Oakwood/Catlin's goal came courtesy of Mason Swartz, who's now up to 12 this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Oakwood/Catlin and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for Urbana University, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, Oakwood/Catlin and Urbana University will both be playing Bishop McNamara the next time they take the pitch. The Comets will head out to face the Fightin' Irish at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Illineks will play them later in the day, at 10:45 a.m.
