The Needles Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Williams Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Needles sitting on six straight wins and Williams on five.
Needles barely beat Lincoln County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Needles was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over Lincoln County on Friday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Summer Scott made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Edey Ponce was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-6. Scotti Powell was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
Needles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Williams got themselves on the board against Red Rock on Friday, but Red Rock never followed suit. They blew past the Scorpions 22-0. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Needles, Williams also got a great game from a two-way player: Danika Howe. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. What's more, Howe gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Williams got a massive performance out of Samantha Amaya, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that Amaya launched this season. Another player making a difference was Faith Jensen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Needles' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Williams, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Needles has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Williams struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Needles took their win against Williams when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 7-1. Does Needles have another victory up their sleeve, or will Williams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
