Basketball Recap: Afton Starts Season with Win on the Road

Afton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Schoharie Storm by a score of 44-33 on Friday.

Afton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylee Rupakus out in front who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten steals. McKenna Ross was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Defeat or not, Schoharie got some senior leadership from Alaina Martin and Julianna Slater. Martin posted 12 points and seven boards, while Slater put up four points and 13 rebounds.

Afton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-32 loss against Cherry Valley-Springfield on the 29th. As for Schoharie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 50-34 defeat against Mekeel Christian Academy on the 29th.
