Basketball Recap: Veritas Academy Takes a Loss

Veritas Academy saw some tournament action on Friday. They had to suffer through a 75-28 loss at the hands of the Coram Deo Academy Lions. While losing is never fun, Veritas Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 870th, while Coram Deo Academy is ranked 229th).

Coram Deo Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Selah Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Anna Beckey, who went 7 of 10 en route to 15 points.

Veritas Academy now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Coram Deo Academy, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Veritas Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-24 win against Meyer on the 28th. As for Coram Deo Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-42 victory against Hillsboro on the 28th.
