Basketball Preview: Pinkston Vikings vs. Wilmer-Hutchins Eagles

Pinkston and the Eagles are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Pinkston Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Wilmer-Hutchins Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilmer-Hutchins took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pinkston, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Pinkston's game was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 56-50 W over North Dallas. Given Pinkston's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 368th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 769th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pinkston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rashad Simpson, who scored 16 points. Simpson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 14 games he's played. Joel Ramos was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.

Meanwhile, Wilmer-Hutchins came up short against the Tigers on Friday and fell 59-52.

Pinkston now has a winning record of 16-15. As for Wilmer-Hutchins, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.

Pinkston came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 62-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinkston since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
