Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mary's South Side). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Lutheran Cougars 44-0. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Cougars are ranked 222nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory was the third in a row for St. Mary's South Side, bringing their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.3 points on average over those games. As for Lutheran, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, St. Mary's South Side will look to defend their home field on Friday against Althoff Catholic at 6:00 p.m. The Dragons will be up against the Crusaders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.17 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lutheran, they will venture away from home to take on Kelly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
