Kevin Bender posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Tuesday. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Hempfield Area is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-10 otherwise.

Bender's effort led Hempfield Area over Woodland Hills and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
