Softball Recap: NEN Finds Home Field Redemption Against Highway 91

There's no place like home for NEN, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Highway 91 4-3. NEN has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Highway 91 on Thursday, too.

Anna Jacobs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zoey Duncan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Karlie Rutar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

With the win, NEN broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-6. As for Highway 91, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Coincidentally, NEN and Highway 91 will both be playing Arlington the next time they take the field. Highway 91 will head out to face Arlington at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while NEN will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
