Preview: Saxony Lutheran Crusaders vs. New Madrid County Central Eagles

Saxony Lutheran has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the New Madrid County Central Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Saxony Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday.

Last Monday, everything came up roses for Saxony Lutheran on the road against Greenville as the squad secured a 64-25 win. That looming 64-25 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Saxony Lutheran yet this season.

Saxony Lutheran's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abigail Haley, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 steals. Those 15 steals set a new season-high mark for Haley. The team also got some help courtesy of Evie Caruso, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to New Madrid County Central, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They were dealt a 60-23 defeat at the hands of Kennett on Thursday. While losing is never fun, New Madrid County Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Kennett is ranked 97th).

Saxony Lutheran now has a winning record of 4-3. As for New Madrid County Central, their defeat was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.

Saxony Lutheran was able to grind out a solid win over New Madrid County Central in their previous meeting back in January, winning 58-46. Will Saxony Lutheran repeat their success, or does New Madrid County Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
