The Chicopee Comp Colts are taking a road trip to square off against the Chicopee Pacers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Chicopee Comp turned things around against Palmer on Friday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 27-13 win. The game marked the Colts' most dominant victory of the season.
Faith Irwin looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Chicopee Comp got a massive performance out of Audrey Mosko, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Mosko is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Arianna Bird, who went 3-for-6 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Chicopee Comp kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmer only managed nine.
Meanwhile, Chicopee made easy work of West Springfield on Friday and carried off a 21-7 win.
Raelyn Loud made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Aviah Blankenship was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season. Adeline Olbrych was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Chicopee Comp's record is now 4-7. As for Chicopee, their record now sits at 10-0.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chicopee Comp has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. However, it's not like Chicopee struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chicopee Comp might still be hurting after the 18-3 loss they got from Chicopee in their previous matchup on April 8th. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
