Basketball Game Preview: Pine Ridge Thorpes vs. Tiospa Zina Wambdi

The Pine Ridge Thorpes will take on the Tiospa Zina Wambdi in a tournament on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Pine Ridge saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 76-66 to Campbell County.

Despite the defeat, Pine Ridge got top-tier performance from Marvin Richard Lll, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 35 points and four steals. That was a full 53% of Pine Ridge's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Steele, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Tiospa Zina had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 67-38 loss at the hands of Britton-Hecla. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wambdi have suffered since January 4th.

Pine Ridge's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2. As for Tiospa Zina, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Pine Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Tiospa Zina in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 66-53. Will Pine Ridge repeat their success, or does Tiospa Zina have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
