Basketball Game Preview: Desert Oasis Diamondbacks vs. Desert Pines Jaguars

The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks will head out on the road to challenge the Desert Pines Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Desert Oasis is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked second at the time (Desert Oasis was ranked 25th). Desert Oasis was dealt a 70-26 loss at the hands of Centennial on Friday. The Diamondbacks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Desert Pines faced off against Las Vegas on Friday. Desert Pines breezed by Las Vegas to the tune of 76-49. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 25 points or more this season.

Desert Oasis better keep an eye on Taveah Oliver. She was instrumental in Desert Pines' win, putting up 27 points in addition to six boards and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Oliver has scored at least a third of Desert Pines' points. Mya Harper was another key player, scoring 20 points.

Desert Pines smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Desert Pines' victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10. As for Desert Oasis, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Things could have been worse for Desert Oasis, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-45 loss to Desert Pines in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Desert Oasis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
