Softball Recap: Winter Haven Comes Up Short

If Winter Haven was feeling good fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Lakeland last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Winter Haven Blue Devils took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mulberry Panthers on Tuesday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Reagan Barrett was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024. Finley Aycock also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Winter Haven's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mulberry, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winter Haven will challenge Lake Region at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mulberry, they will square off against Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
