Football Recap: Burnet Takes a Loss

Burnet lost against Brownwood back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs were beaten by the Lions 38-7. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 494th, while the Lions are ranked 211th).

Fisher Powell threw for 47 yards on seven of 13 attempts. On the ground, Bryan Johnson rushed for 51 yards and one touchdown.

This is the second loss in a row for Burnet and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Brownwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, Burnet and Brownwood will both be playing Stephenville the next time they take the field. The Lions will host the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on November 7.
