Baseball Recap: Hilmar Wins Going Away Against Destiny Christian Academy

Hilmar had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Destiny Christian Academy Lions on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by eight runs or more this season.

Marlin Kindberg spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hilmar let Kayleb Amaya and Cohen Felber run wild. Amaya went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Felber got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Amaya a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of John Labno, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Hilmar and bumps their season record up to 18-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Destiny Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 15-14-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Hilmar will challenge Wheatland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Yellowjackets 2.7, the Pirates 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Destiny Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
