Recap: Kelly Walsh Trojans vs. Riverton Wolverines
The Kelly Walsh Trojans had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 43-37 win over Riverton on Saturday. That's another feather in the cap for Kelly Walsh, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Kelly Walsh's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Davila, who scored 17 points along with three steals and two blocks. Davila has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Hudson, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Kelly Walsh's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10. As for Riverton, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kelly Walsh and Rock Springs will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wyoming (Rock Springs is ranked 37th, while Kelly Walsh is ranked 38th). Riverton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Star Valley at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
