Basketball Recap: M.L. King Starts off Right with Win over Banneker

M.L. King had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with an 86-75 victory over the Banneker Trojans on Tuesday.

M.L. King's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chisimdi Agbasi led the charge by dropping a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Emontae Gourdine, who shot 62% from the field on his way to 21 points.

Banneker is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. M.L. King will square off against Columbia at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Banneker, they will head out to face off against Mt. Zion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 72.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
