Baseball Game Preview: Daingerfield Tigers vs. Hughes Springs Mustangs

For the first time this season, Daingerfield will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Hughes Springs Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Daingerfield 3.4, Hughes Springs 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Daingerfield's tournament run continued when they took on Atlanta on Saturday. Neither Daingerfield nor Atlanta could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Hughes Springs had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 13-3 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

Hughes Springs pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. Daingerfield's tie makes their record 8-3-1 this season.
