Preview: Harrison Wildcats vs. Monroe Hornets
The Harrison Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Monroe Hornets at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Harrison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Even though Harrison has not done well against Mt. Healthy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Harrison narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Mt. Healthy 56-53. That looming 56-53 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Harrison yet this season.
Harrison got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Donovan Mckain out in front who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mckain has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tucker Ward, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Monroe took a serious blow against Springboro on Saturday, falling 78-49. While losing is never fun, Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Springboro is ranked 39th).
Harrison is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. As for Monroe, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-2.
Harrison was able to grind out a solid win over Monroe in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 56-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Harrison since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
