Basketball Game Preview: University Bulldogs vs. Yuma Outlaws

The University Bulldogs will take on the Yuma Outlaws at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. University is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

University is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Weld Central: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that University blew Weld Central out of the water with a 66-26 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 28 points or more this season.

University's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Addison Harding, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds, and Maddie McNair, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Harding is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Natalie Trujillo, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 11 points.

University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Yuma came up short against Resurrection Christian on Thursday and fell 50-42. While losing is never fun, the Outlaws can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Cougars are ranked 24th).

University's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.9 points over those games. As for Yuma, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.
