Baseball Recap: Roseland Collegiate Prep Takes a Loss

Roseland Collegiate Prep extended their losing streak to 13 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They came up short against the Technology Titans, falling 18-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 back in April.

As for Technology, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-11-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Technology's part, Tyler Scullion made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Scullion has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Technology is 2-0-1 when Scullion posts two or more runs, but 1-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Damian Padilla, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times he's played. Pablo Chinchilla was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Roseland Collegiate Prep will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Tomales at 4:30 p.m. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Technology, they are taking a road trip to challenge Sonoma Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Coyotes have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
