Basketball Recap: Jalen Mills Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Northwood Temple Academy

South View saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against the Northwood Temple Academy Eagles by a score of 58-50. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jalen Mills, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 19 points and five boards. Those 19 points gave Mills a new career-high. Kasimir Gibson was another key player, shooting 46% from the field en route to 16 points and eight rebounds.

South View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

South View's record now sits at 2-0. As for Northwood Temple Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South View will venture away from home to challenge Lumberton at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Pirates have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Northwood Temple Academy, they will head out to take on Harrells Christian Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will be up against the Crusaders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
