Soccer Game Preview: East Carteret vs. Lejeune

The East Carteret Mariners will face off against the Lejeune Devilpups at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

East Carteret is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 6-1 margin over Pamlico County on Monday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for East Carteret considering their one-goal performance the matchup before.

Meanwhile, Lejeune strolled into their game last Friday with an undefeated record and they left with the same. Their defense stepped up to hand South Lenoir a 1-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Lejeune's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 100th, while South Lenoir are ranked 353rd).

Lejeune's one-goal win came courtesy of Hayden Soto, who's now up to two this season.

East Carteret's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Lejeune, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0-1.

East Carteret couldn't quite get it done against Lejeune in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Mariners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
