After a string of eight wins, Sutton's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 52-41 to the Cross County Cougars. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Lindee Kelley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cross County, going 9 for 14 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. Those 23 points gave Kelley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bricelynn Larson, who posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Sutton's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Cross County, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Sutton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 38-33 victory against Centennial on the 10th. As for Cross County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-19 win against Heartland on the 11th.
