Baseball Recap: Clinton Wins Going Away Against Red Springs

Clinton barely beat Red Springs the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dark Horses were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Red Devils on Wednesday. Considering the Dark Horses have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cooper Sessoms spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Jaxson Smith was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Henry Bass, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Clinton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Red Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Clinton beat Red Springs by a score of 11-5 on Thursday.
