Basketball Recap: Peck Starts Season with Loss at Home

Peck unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 60-48 to the Ubly Bearcats on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, Peck still got an impressive performance from Thomas West, who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine boards. West has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Cody Cairo was another key player, putting up 15 points and five steals.

Devin Geiger went supernova For Ubly., dropping a double-double with 24 points and 15 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Franzel, who shot 44% from the field on his way to 19 points.

Looking ahead, Peck is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Kingston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Pirates' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Ubly has already played their next game (against Caro), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
