Baseball Recap: Goldthwaite Takes a Loss

Goldthwaite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bangs Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 on Saturday.

Goldthwaite saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Wetzig, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Wetzig has posted since back in March of 2024.

Goldthwaite's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bangs, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Goldthwaite wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-1 loss against Coleman on the 22nd. As for Bangs, they have also already played their next matchup, a 9-1 defeat against Stamford on the 25th.
