Basketball Recap: Lakewood Lancers vs. Newark Catholic Green Wave
Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Newark Catholic Green Wave. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-56 back in December of 2024.
Newark Catholic can attribute much of their success to Dylan Daube, who went 6 for 14 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Daube has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Miller Hutchison, who posted four points and nine boards.
Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Newark Catholic, they moved to 3-9 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
Lakewood has already played their next game, a 61-40 loss against Licking Valley on the 28th. As for Newark Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-58 defeat against Watkins Memorial on the 28th.
