Saint Francis proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 39) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs 20-19. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won three in a row.

Motu Keanaaina was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 127 yards and two TDs. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Max Haberlach also deserves some recognition as he hauled in his first receiving touchdown of the season.

Defeat or not, Archbishop Mitty got some senior leadership from Lazaro Faraj-Washington and Joseph Engin. Faraj-Washington rushed for 124 yards and one touchdown, while Engin threw for 164 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Faraj-Washington is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 108 every time he's taken the field this season.

Saint Francis picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Archbishop Mitty, they moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Saint Francis is taking a road trip to challenge Junipero Serra at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Archbishop Mitty, they will welcome Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Monarchs will be up against the Fightin' Irish's rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.4 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
