While Falls Lake's win against Vance Charter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Firebirds narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Knights 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Firebirds have posted against the Knights since September 21, 2018.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-105) Falls Lake actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-13.

Devanee Wampler paced Falls Lake's offense, picking up 13 kills. Wampler got some help from Tess DeZurik and her 37 assists. Maggie Penn controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Despite the defeat, Vance Charter had strong showings from Ella Barnes, who had 17 digs and three assists, and Karsyn Pernell, who had eight digs and one assist.

Falls Lake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Having lost for the first time this season, Vance Charter fell to 10-1.

Falls Lake has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Excelsior Classical Academy on the 16th. As for Vance Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Discovery Charter School on the 16th.
