Softball Recap: Coleman Comets vs. Vestaburg Wolverines

Coleman lost against Vestaburg on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Coleman Comets took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vestaburg Wolverines. That's two games in a row now that Coleman has lost by exactly three runs.

Harley Lattimer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and a run. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Chaffee, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Coleman was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with five doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vestaburg only hit two.

On Vestaburg's side, Sasha Page made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Page was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Addison Neelis was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Halee Patch was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Coleman and nudges their season record down to 10-4. As for Vestaburg, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.

Coleman will play host again on Saturday to welcome Merrill, where first pitch is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Coleman is facing Merrill at the right time seeing as Merrill is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Vestaburg, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Carson City-Crystal at 4:00 p.m. Vestaburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.3 runs per game this season.
