Recap: Bunn Wildcats vs. Vance County Vipers
The Bunn Wildcats were the 49-45 winner over the Vance County Vipers when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Bunn took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vance County on Friday.
When it comes to explaining why Bunn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Domantea Cooke. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Cooke has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Riley, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Bunn were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vance County only posted three assists.
Vance County can attribute much of their success to Khaleel Harvey, who scored 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Tyshawn Alston was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Bunn's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Vance County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bunn and Beddingfield will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Beddingfield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bunn in North Carolina (Beddingfield is ranked 126th, while Bunn is ranked 418th). Vance County and Carrboro will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Carrboro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
