The Annawan-Wethersfield Titans will challenge the Midland Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Annawan-Wethersfield will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Mercer County on Thursday. The Titans came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 10-5.

Maddux Heitzler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games he's played.
In other pitching news, Isaiah Cornish looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).
Back at the plate, Cole Goodley and Dane Ross did most of the damage at the plate: Goodley went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Ross went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave Ross a new career-high. Nathan Harker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Annawan-Wethersfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercer County only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, Midland can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Princeville 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Timberwolves have posted since April 25th.
Annawan-Wethersfield's victory bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Midland, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
Annawan-Wethersfield got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2018 against Midland by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Timberwolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
