Preview: Southwest DeKalb Panthers vs. Miller Grove Wolverines
Southwest DeKalb is 8-2 against Miller Grove since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Southwest DeKalb Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Miller Grove Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Southwest DeKalb has insisted on making their lastfive contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-4 during that stretch of close contests.
Even though Druid Hills scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, Southwest DeKalb still came out on top. Southwest DeKalb sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-64 win over Druid Hills.
Southwest DeKalb's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron Burks, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Messiah Mergan, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Miller Grove pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a serious blow against Columbia, falling 88-57. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Miller Grove in their matchups with Columbia: they've now lost three in a row.
Oak Ridge's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Southwest DeKalb's loss dropped theirs to 0-4.
Southwest DeKalb was able to grind out a solid win over Miller Grove in their previous matchup back in January, winning 55-43. Will Southwest DeKalb repeat their success, or does Miller Grove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
