Lopez has gone a perfect 8-0 against Mercedes recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lopez Lobos will challenge the Mercedes Tigers at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lopez has six straight victories, Mercedes has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Lopez is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Edcouch-Elsa on Tuesday. The Lobos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Mercedes' offense. They came up short against Rivera on Tuesday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 782nd, while the Raiders are ranked 99th).

Lopez's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three contests. As for Mercedes, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Everything went Lopez's way against Mercedes when the teams last played back in February, as Lopez made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lopez since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
