Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Comes Up Short

Faith Christian and The First Academy squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Faith Christian had to settle for second. They came up short against The First Academy Royals, falling 67-43. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Royals are ranked 92nd).

Max Simmons was his usual excellent self, going 6-for-10 on his way to 21 points and eight boards for The First Academy. Simmons' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Cooper Clinger was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 15 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Faith Christian and nudges their season record down to 19-8. As for The First Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Faith Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The First Academy, they will challenge Master's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The First Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.1 points per game this season.
