Softball Recap: Homestead Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Homestead ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the East Noble Knights 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Spartans, who until this match were averaging 3.93 runs allowed.

Braeli Borchers was a standout: she fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Maddy Rodgers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Homestead kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Homestead is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for East Noble, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 8-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Homestead will square off against Churubusco at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for East Noble, they will challenge Wawasee at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
