Basketball Recap: Justin-Siena Comes Up Short

If Justin-Siena was feeling good fresh off their 66-37 takedown of Petaluma on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Braves were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 54-53 to the Sonoma Valley Dragons. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Braves came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Dragons are ranked 547th).

It was another big night for Grayson Sanders, who went 6-for-13 en route to 24 points and seven boards for Sonoma Valley. Another player making a difference was Luke Costanzo, who posted 14 points.

Justin-Siena moved to 10-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Sonoma Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Coming up, Justin-Siena will head out to challenge Napa at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves will be up against the Grizzlies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.44 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sonoma Valley, they will welcome Lower Lake at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
