Preview: Westhill Warriors vs. Cortland Purple Tigers

Westhill has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Cortland Purple Tigers at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Westhill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests.

Even though Institute of Tech scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, Westhill still came out on top. Westhill managed a 63-57 win over the Eagles. Given Westhill's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Eagles are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cortland struggled with threes on Tuesday (the Bears had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Cortland had to suffer through a rough 91-38 loss at the hands of the Bears. Cortland has struggled against the Bears recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Cortland got a solid performance out of Antonio Terrazas, who scored nine points.

Westhill pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.6 points per game. As for Cortland, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Everything came up roses for Westhill against the Purple Tigers in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 76-39 win. With Westhill ahead 41-19 at the half, the match was all but over already.
