Soccer Game Preview: Sanger vs. Sunnyside

The Sanger Apaches are taking a road trip to take on the Sunnyside Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

On Tuesday, Sanger sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Riverdale.

The Apaches hit the Cowboys with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Andy Hernandez, Paul Landon, and Sebastian Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside hadn't done well against Reedley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wildcats skirted past the Pirates 2-1. That's two games straight that Sunnyside have won by just one goal.

The win made it two in a row for Sunnyside and bumps their season record up to 3-0-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored six goals over those two contests. As for Sanger, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Everything went Sanger's way against Sunnyside in their previous matchup back in March of 2021, as Sanger made off with a 5-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Apaches since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
