Montview recap Oct. 30, 2012
La Puente extended the longest winning streak in Montview this week by beating Azusa, 28-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Warriors.
Sierra Vista moved up to 686 from 716 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Dons were able to make move up by defeating Duarte 20-14.
The Aztecs' dynamic duo of Jose Ledesma and Jesus Arteaga proved tough for La Puente to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ledesma threw for 134 yards and Arteaga had 50 yards receiving. Kevin Perez helped Azusa's passing attack out by catching three balls for 34 yards.
Justin Snedden was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 187 yards as Workman fell to Brandon Rohrer's team. Teammate Adolfo Sanchez added to the ground attack by rushing for 49 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Ledesma of Joe Scherf's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1529. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Sierra Vista's Lee Jones has rushed for 1642 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jamal Greenfield. The Bassett star has 37 catches for 597 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Don LeGro's team takes on the Aztecs. The Dons are in third place, while Azusa is in fourth place.
