Softball Recap: Allie Lewis and Reese R Wells Secure Win for Southeastern Local

Southeastern Local's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Catholic Central Irish get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Trojans have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Reese R Wells and Allie Lewis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, R Wells struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Lewis pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. R Wells has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At bat, R Wells went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Lewis went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Southeastern Local let Addi Vanover and Kaylee K Wells run wild. Vanover went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while K Wells went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Kami Horner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Southeastern Local kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.

Southeastern Local's record is now 18-3. As for Catholic Central, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southeastern Local will be taking part in a tournament against Triad at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Catholic Central, they will be playing at home against Northeastern at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.59 runs per game on average), something the Irish will no doubt try to take advantage of.
