Football Game Preview: St. Thomas More Cougars vs. North Vermilion Patriots + Official Tickets

St. Thomas More is a perfect 4-0 against North Vermilion since November of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

St. Thomas More is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: Teurlings Catholic, who was ranked tenth at the time (St. Thomas More was ranked 22nd). The Cougars came up short against the Rebels on Friday, falling 38-14. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, North Vermilion scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a hard 57-43 fall against Rayne. Even if the Patriots couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

North Vermilion's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for St. Thomas More, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

Everything came up roses for St. Thomas More against North Vermilion in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-7 win. In that matchup, the Cougars amassed a halftime lead of 49-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
