Basketball Recap: High Island's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

High Island had lost 13 straight headed into Friday's match, but Cam'Ron Medina didn't let it get to 14. The High Island Cardinals claimed a resounding 50-20 victory over the Goodrich Hornets thanks in part to Medina, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of High Island's points.

Another player making a difference was Leif Larson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. Those ten points gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Goodrich lost on Friday, don't look at Sky Wrightson. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points.

High Island's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-18. As for Goodrich, they dropped their record down to 0-19 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

High Island will head out to square off against Leggett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Goodrich, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs the Goodrich Hornets face off against the Chester Yellowjackets at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
