Volleyball Recap: Lilianna Barbour Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Lake Placid

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Avon Park walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Lake Placid Dragons with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won six in a row.

Avon Park never let Lake Placid on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-13, 26-24.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Avon Park to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lilianna Barbour, who had 13 assists and ten digs. That's the most assists Barbour has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Naomy Diaz, who had 14 digs and two assists.

Avon Park was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Placid only served six.

The victory got Avon Park back to even at 9-9. As for Lake Placid, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-20.

Avon Park has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Cardinal Mooney on the 16th. Lake Placid does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
